4/25/03

An AppleScript droplet that facilitates the decryption of password-only, self-decrypting archives for Mac OS X.

Download and unstuff this .sit file, placing the enclosed AppleScript droplet on your desktop. You may then decrypt self-decrypting SecretAgent archives for Mac OS X by simply dropping them on the script's icon and entering their password.

Self-decrypting stub for Mac OS X
4/23/03

To enable the creation of password-only self-decrypting archives targeted at Mac OS X recipients:

Macintosh users: download and save this file into the following folder inside your SecretAgent package bundle:
        'Contents/Resources/Java'

Windows/UNIX users: download and save this file into your SecretAgent program directory .

Notes:

  1. This file is platform-independent, but only works with SecretAgent 5.6.5 and later releases.

  2. To decrypt a received self-decrypting archive built with this stub, use the above AppleScript droplet. Expert users may alternately start a Terminal session, turn on the archive's 'execute' permission bit:

            chmod  u+x  archivename

and then execute it with the required password on the command line:

            archivename  password

(The free, downloadable AppleScript droplet automates this procedure for non-technical users. If there is sufficient demand, the free SA5Reader application can also be ported to the Mac OS X platform.)
